Notes on some ongoing ideas

Just a couple of notes on things...
I changed the SD card on the camera, and found that I had taken a photo of my letter tiles a week or two ago.  They are shown here laid out on a paper.  the largest tiles are about 8 inches tall,

Of course there are lots of things to look at and mull over.  there were a lot of square tiles that have letters on them that i did not think to take a photo of.   I'm not really satisfied with them at this point.  I need to mull over why that is and what to do next about this project.

2.  About a year ago I made this little tree and the birds.  You can tell the scale of  them by the size of the lilies.
The birds aren't permanently affixed to the tree branch, but there are holes with a wire that connects them.
I think that I'd like to try another thing like this, and vary it a bit.  Also, what about leaves on a tree.  Or maybe a more abstract perch for the birds.  Maybe more birds.

This morning I went to a sculpture class at "Savannah's Clay Spot" (HI Lisa).  It was quite fun, and somewhat stimulating.  I need to think about what I want to make, but in the meantime, I have started to make a large oval, "boat-shaped" footed bowl.  and also a hill with a couple of sheep on it.  Not sure where I'm going with that yet.

What to do with the Birds..

I made some birds without a clear plan of what to do with them.  So I have been thinking about it.   I did put two little holes in each to put wire legs in later, so that I can perch them somehow.
I have these two wooden birds by Jim Mullen (Mullenium) that he puts on vintage objects. Which is a thought. Or a person could make some sort of object out of clay.
I also have this little vintage bird ornament where the birds perch on a branch,
I think this has a lot of potential, and maybe I could do one where there are places to put more birds,
I think it would be best to make the pedestal and the birds separately and then combine them later.
I love these ones, they are so pink.

A Bit of Bird Fun

Well, after spending all that time trying to get my head around the underglaze test tiles, (more on that later!)  I do have a fun project in the works as well.
 Birds!
I was quite inspired by seeing the sculptures by Emily Wilson in Asheville, and no doubt am influenced by her work with this set of birds, (more elongated-- planning to do in more colors)

However, even before that, I had wanted to do some more birds.  I made several some years ago for in my garden.  They were also about this size, about the size of a fist, with wings outstretched, fat bodies and tails up.  I glazed them in a glossy white, and they had a hole in the bottom large enough for a 1 cm wood dowel.  I used the dowels to place them on finials that i had thrown in sections.  I  am down to only one of these birds left, I don't know what happened to the others!!
